Councilors running to be tds- what happens

    have noticed a few county councilors in our area running in the election. what happens to their council seats if they get elected? Do their party just stick in another party member or is there another election for the seats?

    Yes, this is exactly what happens, it's called co-option.

    Yes thats what happens - IMO it's ridiculous to allow this to happen - it should actually be the next on the list of those who didn't get elected as this would focus the minds of those wishing to leave the Council on the balance of power which is unshiftable in the current setup
