A couple of weeks ago I started a thread on how FG would handle the difficulties of taking on the reins of the country, taking into account how difficult the transition was in the UK – the thread descended into the usual tit-for-tat, so I dropped out of it.

But I have found recent events interesting.

First up was Enda Kenny on the RTE news with Dobbo. No matter what the FG leader was asked, all he kept saying was that he was going to get a better deal from Europe. It was repetitive and slightly worrying. Why? Well you can’t base your campaign on one point alone. Especially one that you have absolutely no control over.

The second was, you beatcha, Enda Kenny and his comments on Vincent Browne. Now whether you agree with his sentiments or not, it just wasn’t the sort of comment that the possible future leader of a country should come out with. First of all it sets him against the media. Second it’s the sort of thing that he won’t be allowed do if he ever became Taoiseach. Look at Bertie, look at Cowen, the slack that they took from the media and they never commented back. Why? Because it always back fires. The media will keep hounding and hounding and hounding, it’s the nature of the beast.

Two serious gaffs in two weeks? How hard will this man find being Taoiseach?
