    I have one as my classic. Great car. Well able to keep up with modern cars. Not much room if you're carrying tools or anything bulky. Boot is small & front trunk ( called the frunk) is also pretty small. Extremely reliable but you really need to check for rust. Saw one for sale recently which looked good under a new coat of paint but was really a dog underneath with plenty of corosion.

    There are a few on donedeal with long NCT's.. one or two fairly expensive so how much is a clean one worth anyways?
    I've abit of spare room in my garage and I'd like to have one as a weekend run about not so much as a daily driver..

    good motor !!!
    ex boss of mine has one for years & its a fine driver .

    only thing against it is ,,,theirs little room in them !

    also the floor pans rot goodo :rolleyes: which cars dont ??? :)

    No reason not to use it. I have an MGF which I use every day - I'm sure an MR2 is more reliable!

    I had an '88 MR2 as my daily driver for a couple of years. It was extremely reliable and never let me down even in the depths of winter. It returned surprisingly excellent fuel economy as well - matching my 1.6 Laguna. Can be a bit hairy in the wet and ice but not uncontrollable by any stretch.

    I would echo what others say about rust. My car was not garaged and I could literally see it disintegrating before my eyes, especially round the arches.

    The biggest problem I had was that the interior regularly froze over due to a leaking T-Bar :D

    nice cars alright, just watch for rust and if your using it as a daily if its not well sealed get it done

    they're a great car, but rust rust rust, it kills them. Rear arches and sills are available from the mk1 mr2 owners club i think. T bar roof is lovely but if you leave the glass in on a sunny day it'll roast the head off you, it's like driving around in a greenhouse.. Also hard to get with the t bar roof not leaking water, although almost all of them let in a drop when they're being power washed. But they are unbelievable fun to drive, like a big go-kart, chassis and body designed by lotus as far as i know :cool:
