Election '11 - Trust or Truth? [East Galway]

I'm astonished at the messages the political parties and their candidates are spinning when it when it comes to why my vote matters.

I've heard them all - and here was my dilemma.

    Would I vote for:

A Candidate I trust because I know him or her and who "makes me feel good about sorting out my future problems"?

    Or

A Candidate who clearly tells the truth about how much hardship I'll have to endure before the country gets back on it's feet, only after which time I will then become the priority --- something, incidentally, that I did not want to hear?

In the end, I decided to first find, and then support someone who I can trust _and_ someone who tells the truth insofar as I can determine.

Someone whose ego is parked to the side when it comes to what he believes in. Someone who values national progress but not at the expense of the price our local communities are expected to pay to achieve it; someone who believes in the value that our land can play in the coming recovery over next two decades; someone who believes in the values of pride, respect and integrity as core to our future prosperity.

Someone who stands for these values, who has never jumped ship, who has remained committed to his beliefs, someone who is not flash, someone who I can and do believe in. Someone who will get results, is bull**** free and honest.

Someone who probably won't get elected.

Unless enough of us decide these things matter.
