    Lily

    A memory crept upon me
    Today like a dangerous
    Stranger upon twilight.

It was one which I had
    Resisted, subconcious,
    Rather than in fight.

    The glance surely forbidden,
    And thoughts deeply hidden,
Just as much as this memory.

    My fingernail the axe to
    This feeble desk.
    Whilst words are spoken

    My mind wonders and
    Then rests. And when
    I do absorb words,

    Alas, they're the words
    Scribed on the desk!
    Oh what a shame

    And yet it's still forbidden
    To mention your name.
I can recall a smell of

    Containment, or maybe
    Safety? And I recall your
    Glance which in my mind

    Meant everything and danger.
    To yours probably nothing,
    To you a stranger.

    Or almost a stranger.

    Or perhaps the glance
    Meant exactly what it
    Intended.

    And this memory is
    Now a memory
    I've befriended.
