    hi All

well the wedding planning has truely started. we are thinking June 2012. We are having a civil ceremony.
My question is can we get our priest to bless the marriage after the civil ceremony?
I know there are strict HSE regulations with regard to the content of the ceremony.

any help with this would be really appreciated

    thanks

yes you can do this, although the issue will be getting the right priest, as some priests will not agree. if you have a family friend or something it might be easier. When we got married we wanted a 'blessing' originally for the sake of my dad, but the priest in our parish refused saying that the Catholic church do not observe 'blessings' of this nature, as to them you either get married as a catholic with the sacriment or not. It kind of suited me as a reason to abandon the blessing idea, so we didn't look into it much further.

However, if you can find a priest who is willing - and there are many out there who would be, it can be done. might be easier to arrange in a venue outside of a church, as then the Parish priest need not know if he were the sort to have a problem with it.
