I have a Powerbook G4 & a 7mb net connection. I never have any problems with video or streaming. However when I try to view the test stream here http://www.liveonlinefooty.com/watchlive/demo.php it is as if the video is slowed down.

I don't get breakup so I am guessing that my computer is struggling with the demands of Flash. Is there anyway of improving it ?.

Stop/starting on mine too, with a 13" MBP and 7MB connection, so I'd say its their servers......

Plays fine for me. Tested it using Safari and Chrome. 13" MBP 2.26 GHz C2D.

I'd say it's a combination of your old machine and Adobe's crappy coding. Flash was always particularly problematic on PPC, and the G4 is pretty old at this stage. It's not like it's much better on the newer processors. As with all Flash on the Mac, it causes a lot of stress on the CPU.

Plays fine on 2.4 c2d 4gb macbook pro.

There is only one way to improve flash performance and that is to not use flash and even then current html5 offerings aren't too much better.

On my 1.8GHz G4 PPC tower it is dire. The play is so jerky that it's barely watchable.

On my MacBook 2.13GHz Intel Core 2 Duo the play is smooth but with occasional pauses. These can be cured by pausing it for 5 minutes then restarting. My ADSL connection isn't brilliant.

I assume, BTW, that this site isn't legal so it may not be around for long.

The site has been getting loads of praise from the lads in the footy forum :D.

Since my OP I have discovered that it is an issue with Flash & old processors like the G4 which simply can't cope. There is an excellent forum thread here:

    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=768766

I have taken the steps recommended including switching to the Namoroka Version of Firefox that is optimised to make the most of a G4 & it has improved but the stream is still not smooth.

I guess it is just a typical problem of long lasting Macs !. I only paid €450 for this PB G4 17'' about three years ago & I just cannot see the point in paying a fortune to change it. Typical PC laptops just aren't as nice & a replacement 17" is mega money.

Just an update in case it benefits future viewers. I found this thread:

    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1085750

I followed the instructions in the first post & then downloaded TenFourFox as recommended by another poster in the same thread.

It's made a big improvement & the streams are watchable.
