Smashed the back of my iPhone 4 last week and ordered a replacement from eBay. Got it yesterday but it is not the entire back panel, just the glass. I have been searching for a tutorial on how to remove the broken glass from the back frame and insert the new glass but can't find anything on how to do this. Has anyone had a similar problem or know where I can find a tutorial on how to do this?

The glass IS the back panel, there is nothing else. There's quite a few tutorial videos on YouTube, and while it's quite simple, you'll need a screw driver that fits the 2 screws either side of where the charger goes.

this should be fun to watch. You basically have to heat the former glass so that is comes off, but without damaging what's underneath. After that you have to glue the new glass back but you have to make sure that the glue is perfect otherwise it will look like you know what.

Yeah I was thinking it would go something like that. OK time to buy a proper back.

Think he is referring to an entire rear case.

They are the entire rear panel, not just the glass. Its possible to buy just the glass or the rear panel, my suggestion is to buy the entire rear panel.

I put the old back in the oven for a few minns and was then able to easily remove the old glass from it and then glued in the new glass. It turned out perfect and ended up saving me a few bucks.
