Trying to plan a short trip to St Anton in March with a buddy.

Been snowboarding 4 times before with large groups but think a week is too long and don't want to bring the missus this time (she's more into Sun).

Just starting my initial research now. Was in Kitchbuel last year and Mayrhofen the year before and got a lot of recommendations about St Anton.

Anyway always used a tour operator before so need to figure out a few things. It looks like we could fly to Zurich and rent a car for the 200km drive. Anyone done this before?

Also, anyone any tips on accomdation in St Anton that would be suitable for two lads? Not going to be there for anything other than a few hours sleep so somewhere basic and central would be ideal.

There's a bus service from Memmingem to St. Anton. Did it this way myself.

Anyone got any links for accomadation for this place? Heading in a few weeks and have no accomadation booked.

    http://www.stantonamarlberg.com/winter

Has a very good accomodation finder.

OP I'm flying via Zurich, you can get a train from airport to Zurich centre and then swap for a train to St Anton. Less than 3 hour journey. Memmington is closer if you can handle Ryanair. Private tranfer from there I think.

Yip it would be prefect... the same place offers hotels room too..

you could get a room with two single beds... its €60 per night PP but that includes breakfast etc... cannot recommend this place enough!

The owners name is Thomas, he is very good and great to deal with !

Going to rent a car in Zurich and drive to St Anton as train/bus times don't really suit.

Could anyone recommend the best place to rent a board in St Anton?

This place is just down the road from St. Anton and alot cheaper, id imagine the prices are jacked up in St. Anton becuase they know you have to book with them. If you have a car you can just drop down the road and get a good deal

    Well everyone,

Made it to St Anton last night.

Having a beer and a jaeger in the place opposite the Mosserwart right now and going to head over to the Moose soon.

Did most of the runs around the Galzig and Valuga lifts today.

Any tips on where to try tomorrow?

We flew with Swiss Air to Zurich. Swiss Air are great as ski friendly. You can take 20kg in the hold plus no extra charge for additional board and boots. Can also take an overnight bag and a laptop bag into the cabin.

From there we got the train to St Anton. Less than 3 hours. It was about €95 return.

Yeah I'd say this is the best resort I've ever been to but OMG it's expensive!!!

The Mooser is a madhouse

Just booked my train tickets and if you select non-refundable / changeable you get a lot cheaper. I paid about €83 return from Zurich city centre for TWO people - pretty good. Didn't book the train from the airport as I didn't want to be stuck to a given time from the airport, will just hop on one once we've got our bags.

If anyone has any success getting rooms please post them - I've had great difficulty finding anywhere for our trip over Paddy's day.
