If a summons is printed and it has two accused names on it, ir John and Mary Murphy.
This summons (for a road traffic offence) is then delivered by registered post.

is this this summons valid? i was of the opinion that a summons could only be addressed to one person.

would this summons be struck out in court?

Can't say without seeing the summons.

The real question is probably against whom the complaint was made grounding the issue of the summons. The summons is just a piece of paper which records that and tells you what day you have to go to court on.
