Making Plywood Waterproof

Doing a cheapo and putting together some outdoor boxes out of plywood.

Any suggestions on varnish/protector to stop them from breaking up or coming apart if left outside?

Marine plywood might be the best option for outdoor use, but yacht varnish might be worth checking out if using regular WBP plywood.

Give it a coat of epoxy resin and then marine varnish for uv protection that works for me.

I use west system you should be able to get it from any marine shop, if you get the one with the pumps it makes it very easy to mix.

Here is a video on how to apply it,be sure to coat the sides of the ply well as thats were water can get in.

They are a Canadian company I believe and the product I bought is of very high quality and was reasonably priced. Their direct website seems to be down at the moment.

I am sure somewhere in Ireland sells epoxy resin but I think purified uranium would be almost easier to get hold of.
