    Hi,
So i've booked my J1 and plan to hit the US in June. I've got a few family members in Connecticut so i thought i'd hit there if there were any jobs on offer. I've had a quick search around and there seems to be good job opportunities. It could even be an advantage that its not one of the J1 hot spots - Might help when looking for a job.

I know Connecticut is a bit off the beaten track so i was just wondering if anyone has any opinions on it - Anyone been there before or planning to go?

    Thanks in advance! :)

I was there (Hartford) for the first time last week by chance.

Seems like a nice enough city but quite small. As you mentioned, the fact that there wont be too many J1ers competing for jobs would be an advantage.

It is quite expensive there but the same can be said for NY and Boston.
I found them very strict on ID. Literally every bar has strict door policies and Im well past 21!

I did J1s in both NY and Boston and would return to Boston in a heartbeat. Great city. 2 hours from Hartford. I'd say it'd be better craic in Boston for a J1 but the fact that you have family in CT is a good asset.

Hartford is the insurance capital of the world so there's LOTS of offices there. Im sure you could pick up a admin/temp office gig fairly easy especially if you have some college background.

    Good luck
