gym contract

Hi, Just wondering if any one can tell me about gym contracts. I joined Jackie Skellys 01/9/2010. I signed a contract with them for 1 year. They have since changed hands to energie with whom I have not signed anything. Is my contract still valid or can I cancell it with out any penilties. Thanks in advance. Angie
