Hi I am looking for some smooth finish blue limestone paving slabs. What I need them for is actually to carve lettering on them. Does anyone know a place that sells them in North Dublin?

    Thx,
    Chris

Sounds like you are looking for someone who makes amongst other things Headstones? Stone suppliers will generally supply only, however some will take on special requests such as yours, but this will invariably be sent to out to a Third Party. This will involve additional costs. You'd be better to contact the source directly, ie, Headstone supplier, Sculptor, or a specialist who can provide Sandblasting etching services.

Well, I actually learnt how to carve v-cut lettering in college, and I'd like to get back into it, so I just need some slabs of limestone around 1 - 1.5 feet squared to carve into. I can't seem to find a supplier selling the kind of stone I'm looking for, but I'll keep looking.

    thanks

Paving slabs generally range from usually 30-60mm in thickness, but what you require much more substantive, ie Architectural stone, eg stone blocks, stone cubes. Better to try Quarries. Not much choice around Dublin, but you could try Double L in Naas, Feely Stone in Roscommon or Manor Stone in Tallaght, Ryanstone and Murphystone are also in Dublin.
