It is 5am, and less than an hour ago I told my mother about, well, Me! :D

She's completely supportive, better outcome than I could have dreamed!

I can't sleep tonight. I'm gonna skip work tomorrow and just enjoy the day for what it is. Sunday too. Gonna skip college Monday and head straight to my GP for a little chat and a referral to a Psych-iatr-olo-something, whoever I can see soonest.

Thank you all for the support I've received here, especially Links234! You are officially my best internet friend. Cookie for you :pac:

Enjoy the epically corny music above. Seemed apt to describe my mood right now

    *Blush* :o

I'm so happy for you Hare ;)

By the way though, you don't need a referral from your GP right away, you can contact Dr. James Kelly directly and make an appointment with him, that'll send you on your merry way.

I know, but my mom is (wrongly) worried this could be schizophrenia passed on by her (She was in hospital for a few years with that and depression). There is evidence of schizophrenia being chronic and genetically passed down, so I'm just putting her mind at rest about it.

She's fully supportive but wants me get a mental check up anyway. She's not going to be in the room at the time, so I'll just ask the GP to refer me to Dr Kelly, take a few minutes to ask her if she's had experience with ts patients, then go tell my mom I've got an appointment with Kelly

    Quick question...

Hormones will take a while, but how long will I have to wait if I want antiandrogens? Can they be prescribed relatively quickly?

you need to go to loughlinstown to be prescribed both the hormones and antiandrogens.

Well I guessed that, but is there as much red tape as there is around E or can they be prescribed sooner? Or maybe ill just have to search harder for that special licorice...

I think it's exactly the same red tape.

Yup - exactly the same colour and length of red tape.

The anti-androgens and estrogen are both prescribed by Loughlinstown. Usually Dr. O'Shea (the consultant in Loughlinstown) will prescribe anti-androgens for 3 months, and then start you off on a low dose of estrogen, switching to a higher dose after another 3 months. Usually.

As Links has said, your next best step is to see Dr. James Kelly - he's really nice - a really laid-back guy.

    Update!

Talked to my GP, and it turns out although I'm her first transgender patient, she used to work with Dr O'Shea and said she'd send him a message and let him take over from there. Guess he'll refer me to Kelly or Lucey first.

Got a haircut today too, went from Bee Gees hair to Oasis hair, but its long enough and neat enough to let it grow for a few more months.

Feel so giddy right now lol xD

On a funny note, got called a fag on the street today. How I love unintended compliments from drunk people. ;) Fags rule!
