Hi folks, not sure if im posting this in the proper section, but I suppose its the most appropriate. I wish to set up a small website for a specific assortment of similar small items I'd like to start selling. These are very small items and very small prices per unit, talking from 10c to €2 per item. So were talking on a fairly small scale here for starters.

I dont really want to say what the items will be but just wondering what way this would work if setting it up properly. Am I right in thinking I dont have to register for vat if income of these sales is less than €25,000?

My current work status is I have 6 months work in the year as an employee, seasonal work and then im pretty much unemployed the other 6 months but Im doing a fas course during them 6 months.

The website store thing is more of a little hobby thing of mine, just a little something to be doing and maintaining, im not expecting to make much money from it at all but would like to give it a go all the same. Just havnt a clue about the accounts/tax side of it. How would it affect me regards the 6months when im without a job regards social welfare?

I'd appreciate some general advice if possible, if someone thinks they can help but needs more info to form an answer, incase i left something out. :)

    Hi

You would not have to register for VAT if your turnover is that low. However you do need to register for income tax.

Go to revenue.ie and download the formtr1 and send it into revenue.

    Kind Regards
