    The Noah is nice.

There are many nice bikes for €3k.

    For instance...

Scott Addict SL framset from Westbrook Cycles, €1300
    SRAM Force groupset, shinybikes, €740
Shimano RS80 wheels, shinybikes, €415 (or Soul S2.0SL for ~€480 if you're light)
    Toupe saddle, €70
KCNC seatpost from Clee Cycles, €80
KCNC stem from Clee Cycles, €100
    Handlebars, €30
    Conti GP4000s tyres, €80
    Bar tape, €10
    Tubes, €10
    €2835

OK, my insomnia is fixed. :D

Have a Ridley Orion - and very happy with it. However, with €3k to blow, I would have thought that the world was your oyster......:D

    Lucky fella !

PS: Have a bit of fun with the Ridley online customiser...http://data.ridley-bikes.com/customizer2011/2011-noahrs.html

Would be keen to hear any alternatives to the Ridley Noah RS

I really like Ridley bikes, I know a fellow that bought the Noah RS and loves it, thinks it's super fast, he paid 2650 euros for it. I built myself a Ridley Helium over christmas also a super bike.

Yes, Izalco Pro which is cheaper/slightly different to the Izalco Extreme. The carbon in the extreme is unidirectional, the pro is high modulus. Not that a mortal like myself is ever going to know what the difference is.

Wheels were an end-of-season clearout in 2009, advertised right here on the thread "Pro Cycling Team Columbia/HTC Bikes For Sale". Very happy with them, €800 for two excellent condition zipp 404s with a da7900 casette for good measure. I didn't bother taking the highroad decals off since I'm doing my cycling over in China at the moment and much less likely to have the piss taken out of me for being so flashy! :)

Doesn't stop me lusting after that Ridley Noah though...beautiful bike.

"Unidirectional" refers to the weave type.
"High modulus" refers to the stiffness, usually of the fibre type.

    Fibre types

    Weave types

    FACT! ;)

I think it's also complicated by the fact that you can weave unidirectional tapes.

edit: that Spesh site gets an instant fail for using the term "aerospace grade". There are lots of grades of materials used in the aerospace industry; I wouldn't particularly want a frame made out of the same "advanced polymer" as a seat-back tray.

Probably a customized paint scheme . Ask your local Ridley dealer about this , they will paint it to your prefered choice of colours . Seen a red/yellow/red version recently . Looked sweet .
