Try out your local club. In this day and age you'd think that team mates would be more welcoming to gay players. There's no need for you to join up and say straight away you're gay. Let them figure it out themselves and if you get any petty nonsense I'm pretty sure a few players will put the narrow minded lads in their place.

Gotta be careful what type of team you join. The team I played for in London had a gay player and it was never an issue. Never heard anything said. He even brought his boyfriend on tour with us (Ingeniously getting around the no wives and girlfriends rule!)

That being said, from what I've heard the team he'd previously played for had more or less ostracised him when he came out.

Maybe email the chairman or one of the team captains outlining your concerns. See how he responds.

It depends on the club of course.

But if your the size and fitness level you say you are, a club would be ****ing stupid to do anything but welcome you. Emailing the chairman is probably a good call though.
