    Good evening All,

I plan to install 38mm c/w 12.5 insuation = 50mm to all internal walls which have an external face. How do i install the 4" skirting board to this board any one got any ideas??. The only one i can come with is to fix a 4" timber to the wall at the bottom where the skirting normally is, then rest the insulated slab board on top of this and fix into place only problem is getting a timber big enough in both thickness and height, so say 50mm but dont i have to add thickness of plaster so say 58mm and with the skirting at a height of 100mm, but when i asked today for a quote for some 4" x 2" timber what i was giving was 100mm x 44mm, does anyone have any help.

    Glue the skirting on.
    Provide periodic grounds.
    Long Screws.

Periodic grounds as in short lengths of 4 x 2's every couple of meters screwed to the wall with cutouts in the insulated boards and then nail the skirting to these?

I know most skirtings are steel nailed but really for a quiet house they should be screwed.

I know there's a huge joke in there but I'm serious.

In my own case and that of most others at the time, the t/boards were 38+12.5 so I express nailed 150mm X 38mm p/treated to the wall, then cut the bottom six inches of insulation away from the boards, rested the insulation on top of the timber, and the plasterboard is nailed to the timber and continues to the ground almost, continuous grounds so no looking for them when putting on skirting, plus deep enough to nail skirting top and bottom (169mm x 22mm)

When I insulated slabbed my walls I just glued the skirting boards on with no nails and every now and then nailed in some long 2 inch panel pins at 45 degrees to the wall so that it stops the nail pulling out while the glue dries.
I than used decorators caulk along the top edge to seal any gaps. Once I had stained the skirtings I used clear silicone mastic and sealed any slight gap between the skirting board and suspended wooden floor. This stopped any draughts coming through:) James:)
