No sound on Packard Bell Easynote

I was asked to reinstall Windows Xp on a Packard Bell Easynote that had a botched windows 7 on it. It's about 6 or 7 years old(I'm guessing), with no markings to identify it fully, apart from a sticker on the back saying NEC Uni-Tri-Nt. Installed Windows fine. Had a job to find some of the drivers, but managed to get everything working except the sound.

I did Start/Run "dxdiag" and found out it was a H5 series easynote. I went to the packard bell site, but the H5 is not listed anywhere. Most everything else is. I got a file of driverguide that they reckoned was the right one, but even after a "perfect" install, there's still no sound.

Does anyone have one of these creatures, or any experience of them that might point me in the right direction. Maybe it's a motherboard driver I need instead? Or that I needed to install the drivers in a certain order? Any help appreciated
