The WIT Political Society are hosting a 'Great Debate' on Tuesday, February 8th at 7pm. We have invited five candidates who are running for the General Election in Waterford to take part in a debate on campus. Four candidates from the main political parties (Fianna Fail, Fine Gael, Labour and Sinn Fein) along with Independent John Halligan have been invited to partake in this debate which will see them set out their stall to the students and the Waterford Electorate.

This event is open to everyone - members of the public, students, staff - anybody and everybody can attend the debate.

We will announce the full event plan over the next few days.

So be sure to come along on Tuesday, 7pm in the WIT Auditorium on the Main Cork Road campus (don't worry - it will be fully signposted from all major entrances) for the first Waterford Candidates Debate!

For more info visit our Facebook page. Don't forget to accept the Facebook Invitation!

Mods: Hope this is okay, its a netural event and might be of interest to people in the Waterford area. If its an issue, my apologies.)

We have invited FF, FG, Lab, SF, and one Ind (most high profile) because thats all we can fit in the time space allocated. That leaves a Green Party candidate about two Independents - neither of which are known, have sent out any leaflets, or put up any posters. I only know of those because there listed on the vote area on Boards.

All candidates are welcome to come along and ask questions in the allocated time given for such.

Don't tell me that the Workers' Party are unknown in Waterford. Joe Tobin is their candidate. He missed a local election seat by 8 votes in 2009. In the space of a week he has garnered 400 friends on Facebook.
