Will UPC ever get BBC1 HD ?

Just wondering , specifically for the six nations rugby ..

Last year, we could watch these games on BBC HD, but this year BBC are showing them on BBC1 HD , which unfortunately is not on UPC ..

Will we ever get this ?

Have to make do with watching it on RTE2 via Saorview, not HD but Upscaled and it's a way better picture than on UPC's RTE2 ..

The French game might be on the BBC HD channel but I'm not sure, on their rugby coverage of the 6 Nations it says the match will be on BBC2 but in their tv listings it says the match is on BBC1.

The Scotland match is on the same day as the Carling Cup Final so that should be on the BBC HD channel.

BBC is showing the Superbowl for the first time in HD this year, but on BBC1 HD as well unfortunately.

Anyone know what might be holding UPC back? Much additional expense involved, lack of a clamour for it, inertia...?

UPC are terrible when it comes to HD content, its very annoying. I dont see why getting bbc1 hd would be a problem.

My guess would be just before the next Euro championships.

Considering Sky customers in Ireland can't get BBC One HD, I'd say the problem is on BBC's end and not UPC's.

It indicates how much sport I watch that I only discovered all this as I sat down to watch the rugby match today, and had to settle with RTE in its SD-nastiness. For some reason, the Ireland v. France and the Scotland v. Ireland games will be on BBC HD, so we'll get to enjoy two of the five games in HD, but yeah...this'd better be sorted out by next year.

At least Setanta HD will be showing the Rugby World Cup.

Sky customers can get it by manually tuning it, it's just not on the EPG. Obviously no good for us on UPC.

This is the only reason I havent put my out of sub Sky HD box away in the attic - I moved to UPC about 18 months ago but can still watch BBC HD and ITV HD on the box. Only time I use it is for sport - WC 2010, 6 Nations, Champions Lge etc. Very handy..

I actually assumed UPC would have BBC HD... bit crap really that they don't.

UPC do have BBC HD. But they dont have BBC1 HD
