    Hi,

Bit of a random one here, not sure if anyone will be able to answer it!

Does anyone know whether the Thai Airways Boeing 747 that flies between Heathrow and Bangkok has in-flight entertainment (i.e. is there a TV on the back of each chair) in economy class? Also, is it a 747 that flies between Bangkok and Auckland, and would this plane have in-flight entertainment?

Is it a decent airline to fly with?

Please tell me it is; I've booked already!

    Thanks.

Heathrow to Bangkok usually is a B747-400 and from the site above selected B747's have AVOD.
Bangkok Auckland will be a B777-200 or 300

    But only....
in Royal First Class and Royal Silk Class
If you're travelling Economy it's only available on the B777 and B330/340s. So it looks like Economy and Premium Economy seats on the 747s will have to suffer the old projector screens and overhead monitors.

While doing some holiday research a while back I also read that the 747s used between LHR - BKK are older models and do not have the AVOD systems. However, I'd like to add that I flew with them 10 years ago and found the service and comfort to be amazing, then again just last september and everything was still top notch. I was on an A300 in september (first time on that A/C) which was an older aircraft, but the service, seating, colours, atmosphere on board were brilliant.

Thai also do operate a lot of newer aircraft on different routes, with the AVOD as mentioned above. I would definitely fly with them again, AVOD or not. :)

I flew Korean airlines from London Heathrow to Seoul and then on to Sydney with no AVOD, just the screens every few row's showing Korean soap opera's. For me it was torture, I could do 5/6 hours no problem, 10/11 hours - no way.

Not to be going off topic too much, I found Korean airlines the worst I have ever flown with.

I was on the 777-200 Auckland-Bangkok flight in December and its a nice aircraft. It has full seatback AVOD for economy class as well as business. In flight service and food was excellent and I was totally happy with the experience.

www.seatguru.com has seating maps to suggest good/bad places to sit, there are seats to avoid if you're tall or hate the toilets :)
