Just picked up a 00 reg VW Polo (3 door) for my son's first car and need to know how to replace the switch on drivers door for electric mirrors?

Do I need to remove door panel or just butcher the old one out and clip in the new switch that I have?

    Any help or tips appreciated.

    Remove window winder

    Remove door trim:
THere's about four screws along the bottom of the panel and up the leading edge (you'll need a VERY short posi-screwdriver for the leading edge ones. Remove those. Take out the centre plastic panel of the door handle and remove the big posi-screw in there That's pretty much it, then lift it carefully away from the door enough to get the pull handle out through the gap and once that's clear lift it up to get the top edge away from the window. Once it's clear you will probably need to reach in to disconnect the electric mirror switch (a very pointy screwdriver is useful to release the tiny clips. And voila, you are done.

As far as I know you just pop a flat head screwdriver behind it and it pops out no need for removing winder/panel unconnect wires add new piece connect wires pop back in

Try second suggestion anyway, if the switch is knackered you won't be worried about damaging it :-)

OK, did this last night and it worked a treat. Just lined up a flat blade and gave it a swift smack and switch popped out without a bother. Put in new one and all working fine.

Thanks again for the help. :D
