    ah i see now.

Right, there are no direct student accomodation grants per say.

Your best bet would be to apply for a county council maintanance grant.

there's lots of great advice here
    http://www.studentfinance.ie/

Im not 100% sure exactly when the forms will be released for new applicants for 2011/2012 but i think its around summer time june/july if i recall.

check the http://www.studentfinance.ie/ website, and see what you can find out there. its all based on your parents income since you will be classed as a dependant canditate, so depending on their income levels etc.

there are different levels depending on your parents income etc.

sadly, no one but the VEC office will be able to tell you exactly what you will get, and chances are they get it wrong and you end up appealing their decisions.

yup deffo apply for grant. now as to grant for accommodation itself, as far as i know the govt doesn't do a seperate grant for this. however, most colleges have student services grants for various things, and one of these is to help with the cost of student accommodation. you have to wait until you have registered with the college then go to the student support office and ask for the relavent forms. you fill them in, provide whatever info they require hand them back and then they assess you. so you may be able to get something to help with accommodation. however i doubt you would get anything before your first moiety is due, as these are due in august generally, and i can't see them paying out a grant much before october. but it would help with decembers moiety.

    hope this helps.
