mortgage and ICB advice

    quick question , if you hand back the keys to your house with money still
    on the mortgage it shows up with the irish credit bureau as a default and the bank will chase you for the remaining money , if you do this and leave the state and move to another country that is also in the eu and part of the euro does this bad rating follow you ? IE would you be able to buy another house in the new country , are you on a euro wide credit listing ? NOT ADVISING ANYONE TO DO THIS :D just would like 2 know .

    They would have to find you first. That would be hard enough for most organisations.
    Once they found you they would have to get a judgement against you in whatever country you are in. Only then would it affect your credit rating.

    If the amount of money was small enough they may not bother looking and simply write it off.
