Buffering Windows Media Center

I have an Iomegsa 500GB network media disk, DLNA compliant, wired to my Cisco EPC2425 wireless router (UPC Supplied). I have a HP Laptop with 3GB RAM running Windows Media Center, XBMC and Boxee wireless. I attach to TV via HDMI from Laptop. My problem is that with XBMC and WMC sometime movies are stopping as though buffering, though with Boxee this does not happen, though Boxee drops the movie before the end sometimes. Any tips on how I can investigate WMC and XBMC why the appear to buffer.

Probably a wireless issue. Not fast enough, too much interference, neighbours on the same wireless channel, poor reception in that area of the house....take your pick.

So I would start by trouble-shooting those general areas.

What bitrate movies are you trying to stream? (if you don't know the bitrate then just tell me the size and movie runtime)

Your router is only 802.11g so it should be good enough for low-bitrate movies, but it will struggle with high-def content, depending of course on all the factors above.

Are you using the microwave? Mine plays hell with the wifi internet radio in the kitchen!!

Ye can't beat length of cat5 (or cat6). I managed to push some behind the dry lining on my walls to the attic (two stories)!!
