No specific age. I do think that in a few spots that the mix young boys and girls due to their being no girl football teams before maybe u-10. It depends on your area though so they could have the setup.

It depends on whether you are a sporty person or have played sports before.

For example if you have played soccer or even basketball that would be a very big help.

Even if you haven't it's never too late to learn anyway, if there is a club near to where you live go down and join up, they are ALWAYS looking for new players of any ability. At the very worst it will get/keep you fit, you will make new friends and have fun and you might even become a footballer with some practise! :-)

No age too old or young for ladies football! What county are you based in? Doesn't matter whether you have played or not

When I mean too old, I mean up to around 50/60 years of age with the new Gaelic4Mothers initiative! There was also over 25 teams blitzes set up as well

Honestly any age at all i took it up at 15 and still play it i love it but i play with people who took it up when they were mid to late 20s. Theres no age limit to it its a great way to stay fit meet new people and have a laugh you dont even have to be that talented to enjoy it theres not one person i play with that doesnt love it. You should really give it a go you wont regret it.

Honestly you can join at any age! In my own club two women joined last year who were 40 and even though they wern't the quickest they still got great craic out of the training and the banter! Anyone can join it's great to keep fit and even just to get out a few times a week its good don't let age put you off joining!

You can join a club that is near your town instead - if there is no football for you in your home parish, you can move outside it. Clubs are always looking for players - if you haven't played before, I would maybe suggest trying to find a club that plays junior (junior is just a lower adult grade) and start off with them

29 too old - not at all. There is a new initiative called Gaelic4 Mothers set up, I refereed some game and had a woman around the 55 year mark who had become a grandmother the day before!

If you want PM me and I can send you on where you can find information about your local clubs

I'm not sure what clubs are in what part of Dublin (being from Cork :D) but go onto www.dublinladiesgaelic.ie and click on club information, there are contact details for all the clubs in Dublin - you can check out the clubs grade by having a look at the results from the previous year on the same site!

edit - down the side of the page, there is a bit called Find a Club!

Its called Gaelic4Mothers but you don't have to be a mother to get involved - they are trying to find a better namee, but the initiative is still being called that

yeah they need better names how about women gaa for all ages. "women gaa" some thing modern then
Gaelic4Mothers its to me not appealing to me any way i am in to sport for all ages they never use name like that. women would n,t bother the sport i am in .Gaelic4Mothers its like the American soccer mom version to me by name would make me join.no offernce.
i saw the website now i am too keen .

it does n,t matter any way i am too old any way.

I am involved with St Brendans in Grangegorman. It is in Dublin 7. Not too far from the middle of town and close to Smithfield and Phibsboro. We have 2 Gaelic Football Teams, 1 Hurling team and are in the process of setting up a Ladies Gaelic Football team. We train twice a week and accommodate players who just want to train with the club. Our club is made up of members from near and far. As we have no underage teams we are always happy to see new faces.
If you are interested my number is 0861731984.

    Any age.

Compared to the mens game there is basically no skill involved. If you are in any way fast and strong you will be the best player on any womens team you join.

You won't get far with that attitude. You gotta be open minded with this sorta stuff!

There is more skill - you can't rely on brute strength to be able to dispossess an opponent - womens game is more skillful due to the lack of physicality.
