Have they tried with their existing aerial, do they already have analogue RTE etc.?
This would most likely be from Clermont Carn & they are roughly 12 miles from there in a westerly direction, so if the aerial is in reasonable condition it should pick up Saorview on UHF ch.53.

There is a strong analogue signal from Clermont Carn in those parts, so there shoudn't be a problem with signal. I've seen here that Clermont Carn has directed its DTT signals before the changeover, will a location WSW of the transmitter have reasonable power on DTT at present?

They would need a UHF group C/D aerial. Should have green plastic plugs to indicate this group. DTT from Clermont Carn is on Channel 53. The DTT signal from CC is currently restricted in a northerly direction. This restriction should be removed in about 2 years when NI DSO is completed. Crossmaglen being roughly west of CC should be ok for DTT I would say even with the current signal limitations in place.

Suppose if it's really old it could even pre-date Clermont, find out if they have decent analogue TV3.

In those parts I know people who have just have an aerial directed at Divis, the Clermont signal does OK without any particular aerial directed at it.

I'm living in Belfast and picking up the RTE from Clermont Carn on analogue - signal not bad, but not great.

I've been told by friends that people have been able to pick up DTT at different times - I suppose trials are ongoing. I haven't actually seen it myself on a TV though.

Does anyone know the process I need to go through to receive the digital channel from the Clermont Carn transmitter or am I too far away from the transmitter?

There is a high pressure 'lift' right now which could deliver all sorts of teh funneh to Belfast.

Am picking up ROI DTT loud and clear from CC here in Moira, Co. Down (so Crossmaglen shouldn't be a problem) - sound but no picture due to different MPEG format but hoping to upgrade to compatible idtV in next year or so. Useful at present for listening to radio stations and looking up EPG.

    Many thanks, couple of Qs:
1 Will I have to change any of the hardware at the mast to pick it up?
2 Can you advise what digital channels to go searching within?

I think a DVB-T2 receiver ( Freeview+HD) in Belfast will cover you for 1. UK HD and existing SD Freeeview 2. NI Rebroadcast of RTE and 3. Any Artefacts that drift in from the south. I would leave the aerial well alone until after analogue switch off and power boosts in late 2012/2013 when the final coverage patterns are set.
