Levi Jeans at JCPenney.com

    Hi All,

I’ve just bought a package of Levi jeans from JC Penney.com. Their prices range from, say, $25 to $45. Taking delivery cost and exchange rates into account, this worked out (for my package) at €25 to €45 per pair delivered. (ie $ amount equalled € amount delivered)

In an attempt to avoid customs, I kept the order total below €100 (presently say $130) and made sure to use the USPS standard delivery option (not to be confused with UPC). My package got through untouched, however the above guidelines are by no means guaranteed to work.

Price comparison wise, Levi jeans presently cost €90 to €110 in a major Dublin city centre department store.

Hope you all find this of interest.

(Check out clearance section for jeans <$30).

Have they started shipping Levis to Ireland/Europe again? I bought Levis there before, but the last time I ordered some (probably over a year ago now), they told me they couldn't ship Levis or Dockers stuff outside the U.S. any more. If they're shipping them again that's good news as they are cheap for Levis.

I got a pair last year from them for 35 dollars, though that was a walk in. So cheap enough concidering shipping and all that.

Another related offer: 3 pairs of 512's for €100 in the Kildare outlet which is not too bad

made sure to use the USPS standard delivery option (not to be confused with UPC).
Yes, USPS being united states postal service -i.e. standard post, (typo UPC) UPS is the courier company united parcel service, many couriers will automatically put on any applicable customs charges, you might get a bill months down the line off some.

The other reason to go for USPS is that it is usually cheaper, and when customs are checking items postage is taken into account as its value. e.g. €22 is the limit here, so if you got an item for €20 and €1 postage it is under the limit, but €20 and €10 postage is over the limit and the VAT is calculated on this €30 amount. So going USPS might end up being a lot cheaper overall.

Bear in mind though that there's normally a big price difference between the different cuts. Last time I was shopping around for 501's, the 505's were nearly half that. (Don't hold me to the cut's though, it could've been the 507's as well.)

Nowadays I can only afford the €6 Penney's jeans...

Not sure which cut they were but I got 3 pairs in the Levi's shop in Kildare outlet centre for €12 a pair last time I was there.

I think that is scandalous charging Vat on the postage

JCPenny's promo code SUR11FEB appears to be good for 15% off atm.
A lot of US stores appear to love coupons/promo codes and odds are google will help your wallet out here a bit

My mastercard didn't work, same error message, had to use someone elses visa.

I had trouble with mastercard on a US site before, had to use visa. I have a dual visa/mastercard account with BOI, this means I only pay one government tax and only get 1 combined statement.

When I renewed the card several years ago they tried to get rid of my dual account status, telling me I "didn't need it" as everybody accepts mastercard:rolleyes: Ater them humming and hawing they gave it to me, no doubt costs them a bit more to setup.

When making certain purchases it can be an advantage to use one or the other, some have built in insurance for particular items etc.

You are correct to point out a typo. I did indeed mean UPS. (in full context, I used USPS, not to be confused with UPS)

    Mine took one week.

My shipping came to $46.30 for 3 jeans, 2 shirts and a belt buckle.

The website wouldn’t accept my Mastercard either. I had to ring an internal employee on 00 1860 647 4100 (US landline rates). She’ll have to take ones order details manually so be ready to recite order item codes by having the relevant order sheet open on your PC.

Just got a 'cancelled' status on my order. Don't know what the f*cking problem is, thought they would have mentioned somewhere on the site if they didn't ship specific items internationally.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,220 ✭✭✭boredatwork82

Been buying off them for years. They ship to Ireland. In my experience if you select the super fast shipping option you will get hit for customs.
My last order was not accepted due to the credit card thing, but I emailed them and they said I could order by email. It was a mastercard. That must be the problem. I think my folks have a visa, I must try that out.

I used VISA for this and the order went through fine, its only this morning that the status changed to cancelled.

I rang JC Penney in the states.

They said that they don't ship Levis or Dockers products internationally.

I presume the people who got them were just lucky.

It's the same with MandMdirect.com. They don't ship Bench products to Ireland.

Levis Ireland are ridiculous. I work for a clothing shop and tried to get Levis in store but they wouldn't supply to us unless we sold them for €90 plus (which I know our customers just wouldn't pay) even though they would have been selling to us for €30.

If JC Penney could ship to Ireland, it would have actually been cheaper to just buy them from there and sell them at whatever price we wanted (€50 or €60). How ridiculous is that???

    F******* rip off Ireland.

    According to the Sheplers site:

Note: Levi's® Jeans and Minnetonka Moccasins do not allow any U.S. Catalog to ship their products internationally.

Levi's Jeans Europe are made in Sri Lanka for peanuts what a markup they must be making these are the reasons they try to stop US retailers from selling them outside the USA

Placed an order for a couple of pairs of Levi's with Sheplers earlier. Made a mistake on the order and rang them to have it corrected - girl on the phone ammended my order no problems and said nothing about them not being able to ship Levi's internationally.

Sheplers appears to be a good website for Wranglers also. I’ve just been in a major Dublin city centre department store where Wrangler jeans mostly range from €65 to €85. On the Sheplers website, a sizable amount of Wrangler jeans appear to range from $20 to $35, which after shipping and converting to € may work out at approximately €20 to €35 per pair delivered. They make no mention of not shipping Wranglers internationally, and if they do decide to stop shipping Levis, there is still good value to be availed of.

Q on the sizing for you - Do you think the size you got maches what we have here i.e. do you think a 36W 32L (or your size) is as good a fit as what we can get here (and pay 2 to 3 times the price!)

    No it is not.
Limit for VAT is €22 for purchases and €45 for a gift. Limit for duty is €150.
All include the cost of postage. There is a handling fee as well €5-€15 depending on courier. Obviously it is not a gift if you buy it.

I got 3 pairs of levis delivered from jcpenney last year, two pairs were O.K. fittings definitely different to europe, third pair was very loose twill almost fluffy word very badly and 37 inside leg instead of 33 or 34 whichever I ordered.

Got last six pairs from asos and t.k. maxx don't think I'd bother with jc penney again. T.k. maxx is hard work lots of seriously odd fittings but you get there in the end.

Took delivery of three pairs of levis jeans from Sheplers this morning - no import duty, no quibble with international shipping on levis. I'd previously ordered from JC Pennys, and haven't had any notice of shipment or cancellation yet, so hopefully I won't get double shipment.

Got two pairs this morning from Sheplers too. Duty of €36.10 on top. Altogether comes to around €58 per pair. Still around €50 cheaper per pair when compared to prices here. UPS delivered mine so i was expecting to get caught.

Found another site who have no problem with international shipping http://www.americanjeans.com/ Levi 501's $39.99 + $22.99 shipping for one pair ($39.99 shipping for two) - still a hell of a lot cheaper that buying 'em here!
