Finished up with ex last Easter. With someone new now and happy out. Got a text last week from ex saying hello and she hoped I was well etc. I didn't reply (didn't see the point). Got an email yesterday from her asking was I ignoring her etc. and she only wanted to know if I was ok, hoped I'd moved on, found someone new. To reply or not to reply.. that is the Q? From the content of the mail it would seem she could be looking to stay in touch. I can't be bothered based on reasons why she became an ex in the first place. Thoughts welcomed - thanks.

Do you think she'll leave you be if you ignore her or will she keep contacting you till she gets a reply? If the latter then maybe just drop a mail back saying you're fine and leave it at that. No need to get into a conversation with her so dont bother asking how she is and the likes.

Ya I wouldn't bother replying either, some things are just best left in the past and there isn't much point pretending you want to be friends when you don't

I've gone through this with my ex in the past. Replying just led her on further, always giving her reason to reply back to your reply. It felt completely unfair to my current girlfriend to be communicating with an ex who still (I suspected) had feelings for me deep down and couldn't let go.

I stopped replying, ignored all further communication from her and it eventually died off. I owed her nothing, she was my EX for a reason and I had no interest in maintaining a relationship with someone who would always want more.

My opinion is it's definitely best to ignore her. It's best for her, for you and for your girlfriend. She'll go away eventually.

I was in the same boat 18 months ago..........dont bother replying, you are only going to open up an email conversation. and there is nothing to acheive from this.

    The ship has long sailed!

OP, I'm true believer EX are EX for a reason and absolutely no reason to keep in touch. It's slightly different if there were kids involved but otherwise keep it in the past.

An ex girlfriend of mine advised me that an ex is an ex and that she never keeps in contact because it generally means that someone wants something from the other person (without trying to sound too cynical about it).

I would tend to agree with this line of thinking and though I would be happy to say hello to an ex if I met them in the street I definitely would not add them on facebook, email them or text them.
