I like the look of Let Yourself Go stepping up to 3m in this but have to question his participation. He's 80s on the machine for 5ers down to 50s. I'd like to see him line up but I'd say the weather will have its say in whether that happens.

    Thoughts?

He's not good enough to make all inna Hennessy plus I have doubts over whether he will get the trip

i will have a punt on joncol myself. nolan seems keen on him. not sure about pride of dulcote not too many rides over fences but maybe they have been saving him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,838 ✭✭✭Nulty

I've no doubt that whether he turns up or not is not the only worry. Its a risk but 40/1 is a good price regardless. He's unexposed over the trip but won him PTP over 3m albeit on a sound surface. He is bred to get the trip of that there is no doubt. Also he looks much slower now than he has in recent years. I think hes running over the wrong trip and the step up to 3m will bring improvement out.

Joncol is the obvious one but he jumps to the right basically asking to be beaten. Too short despite wionnig it before.

Come on Richie, what'll win the race? Whats the RichieBet?

    Cooldine.

I think the horse is much better this time of year and he ran a belter in this last year after a no show in the Lexus and the Mullins team are on fire

I backed Cooldine at 25/1 for his RSA chase early in the season, and again on the dat at 7/2, hes one of the horses im in large lifetime profit on.

I think hes good enough still to beat this lot.

China Rock for me. The only one who seems to be improving in the race. Big price too.

joncol for me ,wont mind the forecast ground conditions and will stay.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,191 ✭✭✭NewApproach

Joncol for me. 11/4 looks very big, I'd have him a clear favourite, around the 7/4 or 2/1 mark.

    I like money trix .

There is no way in hell Money Trix is a grade one horse.
Shows just how poor the Irish 3 milers are.

pride of dulcote for me.think he will win snugly

Let Yourself Go's chances of staying 3m are probably shattered by the heavy rain. Hes a big horse and likes cut but Heavy would make things too difficult. Joncol at 11/4 despite his jumping right at every fence. I loath to discount Cooldine after the rains. Call it coincidence or what you like but Townends record on Cooldine is poor apart from a win over Moskova in a beginners chase. If Joncol is 11/4 then shouldn't Cooldine (7/1) be the bet considering there was a neck in it in similar conditions last year? The Listeners chances are should not be discounted especially as his record in the race is so good and with the exploits of Monets Garden and Erics Charm still fresh in the memory. It was his first run in 13 months and could be better for the run. Money Trix is a very interesting as he needs it as testing as possible and it will be that tomorrow. He showed he is a Grade 1 horse by beating most of these last time and the ground will help him further.

Its a miserable race to work out.

    For the record:

    1. Joncol
    2. Money Trix
    3. Pride Of Dulcote

The value lies in Money Trix (11/2) though, 6l from Pandorama

    They're betting:

    {colsp=2}Will Racing Go Ahead?
    Yes| 3.00
    No | 1.32

    GOT IT! :D

Beating the likes of these doesn't make him a Grade 1 horse. This race is almost as bad as the Lexus. Just look at the field of that race. If Money Trix went and ran agaisnt Kauto,Denman,Imperial Commander he wouldn't get within 20 lengths of them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 829 ✭✭✭Long Term Louth

He might get within 20 lengths of them, around Leopardstown though?

You don't get what a grade 1 horse is. The difference between Kauto Star, Denman and other G1 horses...I'll give to a little more time to figure it out.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

I don't need any time thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,838 ✭✭✭Nulty

I guess it a matter of opinion (as always)...Because the G1 division has no upper limit the difference between the best and the worst in that division is big. If only G1 horses [in your estimation] ran in G1 races they would be 3 runner races throughout the year.

On the RP site, these are the top rated 3m chasers in training:

    185 Imperial Commander
    179 Denman
    179 Long Run
    174 Kauto Star
    171 Punchestowns
    168 Neptune Collonges
    167 The Nightingale
    166 Tidal Bay
    166 Burton Port
    165 Riverside Theatre

How can you expect there to be competitive top level chases in every G1 race? Theres a stone in the difference between the top 5 rated. Theres bound to be a class difference in G1s. That doesn't make those lower in the rating a G2 or G3 horse.

I think you misunderstand what a grade 1 horse is....Money Trix can compete with G1 horses given his conditions. He is a G1 horse.

Are Wolverhampton Wanderers a Premiership club or a Championship club?

Your obviously deluded when it comes to the question of what a G1 horse is. You called Petit Robin a Grade 3 horse

Pride of Dulcote could miss the Hennessy for the Betfair on the 19th...

    :pac:

I hope they don't open the Hennessy for entries.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

Apologies I did use a bad example just naming them three. I'd like to see him take on any of the English grade 1 horses,he'd be blown out of the water.

And I stand by what I said. Petit Robin is a grade 3 horse,or a weak grade 2.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,873 ✭✭✭RichieLawlor

Money Trix is not a Grade 1 horse, im not even going to begin to explain how retarded that statement is.

He will never under any conditions win a Grade 1

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,669 ✭✭✭Colonel Sanders

Money Trix is not a Grade 1 horse

He wouldn't have a chance against some of the big name English chasers off level weights in a Grade 1 alright
He will never under any conditions win a Grade 1

Don't be so hasty, he could pick up an uncompetitive, small field grade 1 run on a bog in Ireland (been 2nd in the Lexus twice). Aside from that I'd agree with your statement

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,838 ✭✭✭Nulty

I never said he would win a Grade 1. I said he deserves his place in a Grade 1 when he gets his conditions. Therefore he is a Grade 1 horse.

His conditions would be running against Grade 2/3 horses in a substandard Grade 1 in name only on bottomless ground.

This does not make him a Grade 1 horse anymore than standing in a garage would make me a car

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 561 ✭✭✭minty16

The question is , does a g1 horse have to be a winner/potential winner of a g1 to be considered a g1 horse ? OR Does he just have to be capable of holding his own/picking up the odd place money in a g1. Sticky one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,101 ✭✭✭klairondavis

Pandorama's back among the entries. :D

I'm sure connections of Joncol, Money Trix, Cooldine etc. would have preferred to take on Pride Of Dulcote.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

Pandorama will hardly run I think

The entries reverted to the original entries so I think Pandorama was automatically added. Doubt he'll run, theres been no news of it yet or anything to do with the horse in fact.

The field will be identical, Glencove and Madison won't turn up.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

Ya it's just that field on Befair but no money

presume the story with the 10 euro tickets that were bought online last week can be collected at the gate and used for entry on this saturday?

    Cooldine out now aswell.

This is shaping up to be the worst Grade 1 race I've ever seen in my life.

The Listener, Joncol and Money Trix head the betting.

The Listener is about 20 years old, Joncol is one of the most awkward looking horses I've ever seen and is completly paceless and Money Trix wouldn't be out of place in a listed Handicap.

Kempes won't get home on this ground if he was dragged around, Let Yourself go will burn himself out long before the end.

Glencove Marina and Trafford Lad were promising a few years back but are not remotely like Grade 1 animals.

The only one I can see with a proper chance of improvement is China Rock.

Grade 1 is name only. Terrible terrible race.

    Agree

The standard of 3m chasers in Ireland is poor enough. Can't imagine too many English trainers want to bring good horses over to slog around on heavy ground either

I also think Joncol is very short today. Not much between him & MOney Trix on the book.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

Christ,I thought Joncol was near the 3/1 mark. Not a 13/8 shot, definitely not.

Nice run by Kempes. I thought China Rock was going to win, think he went to the front too far out,got into a battle with The Listener

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,838 ✭✭✭Nulty

I hope they send him to the Ryanair. He has the profile of a Ryanair winner and that race looks a lot less competitive.
