Hey, had a run In with Dublin bus inspectors this morning, had an inspector ask for my ticket and gave him one, he took it as no valid student I.d .

I don't get the bus very often just needed to get it this week,
Basically I found out that my gf took my rambler bus card which was on the table beside her student one, I was wrecked this morning so just took it thinking it was my card. Stupid I know, didn't even read it as I assumed it was mine.

I was told to bring In my card tommrrow and the fine would be refunded and the card would be back, I was out of it and didn't think that I didn't need an I.d card for mine till I got home. Any ideas if they are sound about mixups like this? My gf can't afford a new 80 euro pass and I can't afford the fine now!

you should be ok if you can produce the two cards you claim to have mixed up.

What you did is a known means of fraud. They see fraud as much worse than simply not having paid the right fare. Assuming you are telling us the truth, there shouldn't be any real problem. The two of you go along, tell the exact truth and it should be sorted. Strictly speaking, you did break the terms and conditions and you might get the ticket back, but have to pay the fine. The more honest you have been (when using the ticket and talking to them tomorrow) the more likely that the fine will be waived. Remember that there will be some record of your movements associated with the tickets.

If fibs have been told, there may be difficulties. Do you want to tell us or them?

    +1

And you must be very unlucky, there are very few ticket checkers on DB these days.

Jeezuz!! Three times I was checked by ticket inspectors on Dublin Bus this week. Once on the stillorgan road, once in Camden Street and yesterday at Phisboro where they even had a fu@king translator on stand-by on a phone for a Chinese lad who was pretending not to understand English. amazing how his English suddenly got better when the translator spoke to him. We were all down the back giggling. I know mocking is catching ... but it was actually funny. although not for him. It cost him €50.

I'm delighted to hear this, it seems DB are making a real effort to crack down on illegal travel, great news for the majority of honest, paying users.
