Primetime - The Late Debate

RTE has introduced a new programme Primetime - The Late Debate on RTE1 TV to provide more election coverage.

Presented by Donagh Diamond the first programme aired 03 Feb.
Timed to compete (maybe) with TV's Vincent Browne.

The programme started with a prepared package with a few 'experts' being interviewed on right and left politics in Ireland.

The panel of 8 or so (who sat uncomfortably) on sofas were then shouted at by Donagh Diamond.

All in all a strange set up. The views and replies were a re-run of the usual story from the usual suspects.

Mad that they have brought in this and the 11 o'clock show in the same week.

Only noticing this for the first time, it's on in 15 minutes, worth tuning in?

It was extremely awkward.. Like they'd all just shared christmas dinner and were crowding round the telly to watch It's A Wonderful Life..

Jesus that's a fair coincidence isnt it.. They just used a clip from It's A Wonderful Life to demonstrate how banking works... However, I think comparing George Bailey to Sean Fitzpatrick is a bit of a stretch.. I dont think Bailey paid himself 70k a week..

This has been an excellent debate in fairness, I'm impressed!

+1, great to hear these people without Vinny's egotisical histrionics.

Great debate, could have watched for another hour. Then I turn over to TV3 and see Vincent Browne's scowling face and I immediately want to shove a chair leg down his throat!!

All the talk about burning bond-holders and haircuts must have inspired Vinnie to go to his local barber shop.

These programmes would be a lot better if they were to cut the chat and get down to fisticuffs, because they're all repeating the same lines over and over again, and have been for what seems like an eternity.

Just watched the intro part, too late to watch an hours worth of debate now,
one thing struck me is that Brian Lucy, a professor of finance from TCD was using the world left instead of let:confused:
    "we left the banks etc"

plus he sounded like one of these "ah sure were all in it together now lads"
    Classic closet F.F.
