Norman S Nise. control systems engineering
there are a few editions but i got the 3rd edition pretty cheap online and its quite similar to any following editions i have seen

and if you have access to matlab i found this quite good

    Good ole Gordon Lightbody

Can't say I took his class in fourth year but wish I did as I quite enjoyed Control, even if the exams are quite hard. As far as I remember, he also is quite the good supervisor for final year projects.

As in Gordon Lightbody of Elec Eng UCC fame? It's a small world if so... Currently taking third year Control with him

From talking to friends who ended up working in ESBI or Eirgrid, it appears 50% of Elec Eng grads come from UCC so from that I assume that most Elec Eng students are in UCC rather than in TCD or UCD. No idea why that is the case though, surely UCD and TCD have decent engineering departments also. Not sure if they have engineering co-ops though which usually lead to jobs with ESBI/Eirgrid if you do the summer there.
