Installing graphic drivers on a Toshiba laptop (ATI 4200 HD)

Hey, basically I tried uninstalling the ones I had (to get updated ones) but... Toshiba doesn't allow you to use drivers they don't have or something. So the ATI ones don't work from ATI and neither do the ones from Toshiba.

I still have them somewhat installed but the Catalyst Control Center doesn't work at all.

Anyway the make/model is: Satellite L650D and the short model number is: PSK1NE.

I'm running windows 7 64 bit. Basically, the driver I download from the Toshiba.ie site doesn't work. It let's me unistall things but it won't let me install CCC.

Anyway, does anyone know how to either: use ATI's drivers instead of the old Toshiba ones or, at the very least, how to properly install the Toshiba ones?

It's possible to download them directly from ATI. You just have to know the url. I have a Toshiba laptop also and these worked for me.

    http://www2.ati.com/drivers/mobile/11-1_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc.exe

If a newer version comes out you simply replace the '11-1' part with whatever is the newest version. Hope this helps.

I do appreciate the link but I tried it again just now and I got "Application Install: install source package not found" from the install manager.

If you don't mind me asking, what card do you have? Also, if it#s not too much bother, can you tell me what you did to install/uninstall?

I have the Toshiba L670 with a ATI 5650. I had the same problem installing ATI drivers direct from the ATI website. They would fail and say my card wasn't supported. I read somewhere else that you can download the drivers directly once you know the link.
I simply uninstalled my old drivers from control panel, rebooted and then installed the newer ones.

Well the problem is, even if I uninstall them, restart and then install them they'd either give the error above or else it would install fine but CCC wasn't usable.
