Does anyone know where to get one of these tablecloths (by the metre preferably) locally?(I have seen them on-line but the postage is about the same as the tablecloth, bit mad, and off-putting!)

Try Winstons in Bray. They have table clothes on rolls.

Got one a few years back in Woodies - off the roll - presume they still would do it.

Avoca in kilmac does it and Anvils in Bray 25 euros per metre approx.
Also the Discount curtain shop and Winstons price should be cheaper.
    I hope this is helpful

Murphy Sheehy Fabrics in Corrig Avenue in Dun Laoghaire, or Kath Kidston in Dundrum Shopping Centre!

I got a lovely one from Murphy Sheehy at the knitting & stitching show in October with little dogs on it in pale blue, red and beige. Sounds awful but it's fab!
