    Sorry to give you the bad news mate , but youve been ripped off.

    HDMI is an all digital interface , VGA is all analog , that cable could never have worked with any standard HDMI interface , its not possible.

    This is a common ebay scam.
    Theres even a few of them showing up on the Amazon marketplace these days.

    Its an out and out con job.

    The only way you can get a VGA output into a HDMI input and vice versa is with some digital to analog conversion , and this is not cheap. The cheapest device I know of that works is the HDfury , and its about €80. Even at that is doesnt work with everything as HDMI is content protected for most devices.
