Got the letter today from the deciding officer that my jsa had been awarded....after along wait a relief i though.
I moved to dublin from carrick on suir in september to try and find employment i was on jsb in carrick on suir but moved just as my stamps were running out which i didn't know, everything i do is above board so i would have no problem with appling for jsa.
It took the swo in dublin from the 5th sept to 26th october to decide i wasn't entitled to jsb.so applied for jsa on 26th of october.
The deciding officer showed in his letter he is back dating my claim to the 26th of october.
How do i now get the money back that i was to get form the swo from the 5th september to the 26th october as they were deciding which claim i should get it was going to be one or the other and it took them the weeks to decide, and i couldn't even get money from the cwo until it was sorted what i would be claiming for.
Going to the swo tomorrow does anybody know were i stand on this one?

Sorry! for the long post but i'm just so disilluationed.:(

On what date did your stamps run out?If you signed on in Dublin on or before the 5th sept you could reasonably expect to have you claim backdated.

My stamps ran out around the 1st-7th of september i believe so when i made the claim on the 5th of september to change address they didnt know which benefit i should be on and it took them until october 26th to decide.

I see, you should have a case for getting the payment backdated to the when the jsb ran out.You might be a well off waiting until you get payed the back money and your jsa is running smoothly, then appeal the decision of the officer for only backdating your claim to the 26th.If you appeal now they might hold up your claim while they look into your appeal.

I know what you mean. But will i have to appeal his decision as the swo will know when my jsb ran out and did tell me it would be back dated.

    Just to update,
Went to the appeals office and filled out the form.Had the the previous letters from the swo with me too,was told it was straight forward as i wasn't appealing his decision but to have the payment backdated.
They were helpful at least also told me that the swo might also be able to back date it for me as the deciding officer had awarded my claim and if the swo gave me the backmoney just to cancel my appeal.
My claim for jsa will still be paid and it won't be affected but was told the appeal will take months before it's seen to because of the backlog.

PS. navan road swo was closed today due to maintanance so won't be able to go there till monday
