If you fail an exam in semester one, do you have to sit repeats in May?

Or is it only if you fail an end of year exam?

    Are you an Arts student?
I think that if so the repeats from the Christmas exams are in May.

Otherwise repeats from Christmas and Summer exams are in August.

Unless you're wondering if it's possible to compensate for a **** christmas exam with a summer exam, in which case: It depends...

Yup, I'm an Arts student. I failed 'History of Philosphy'. I cocked up by leaving study to the last two weeks and catching a monster of a flu in the time I had left.

Well I failed IT but if I pass the other 2 modules i.e. get a 40% average of the 3 I pass. Might only apply to IT though.

If it makes you feel any better, I started studying for that exam 2 days before, went out one of the nights, and got 46%. How's that for a philosophy?

I don't see how that would make someone feel better about having failed.

On topic, ask the course director or department secretary if you will have to repeat or can raise your average with other subjects, rules can change from year to year. Although I think the repeat is May so that might mean there's option but to resit the exam.

No, that doesn't make me feel any better. My 'last minute study' consisted of lying in bed, coughing, drinking blackcurrant flavored lemsip, reading notes uploaded to blackboard and feeling s**t in general.

So, if you can leave your study to the last minute, go out and still pass while I read from bed and still fail, then how stupid am I?

If the grade for your module in the summer is below 40 then a resit will be needed OP... otherwise, you're grand.

Exams aren't that hard to pass really, you just have to know what sort of waffle they want to hear and put it down on the paper....

you can get quite good results on limited knowledge if you give the examiner what they want, same as in any other exam... it's what i did, didn't exactly break my arse working by any means and spent study week playing football manager but knew what sort of shíte they'd be looking for and did grand.

Do the assignments, maybe spend a week down the library coming up to the exams, and there'll be no need for repeats.
