Wouldn't suprise me to be honest. Mind you, INM took it over in the first place.

Surely the fact that they've been flooding a losing concern with money to be immediately flushed down the drain for so very long suggests a massive support for left ideas under that logic?

Why would it support it for so long in first place then?
They are selling papers all over world to cut costs.

    Conspiracy theory I think OP.

The Indo group made a decision that they couldn't keep funding it.

I don't think you have to look further than Denis O'Brien (yes another conspiracy theory) to find where this cost cutting measure came from.

It's a bit far fetched to think that INM would be so worried about support for the left as to fail to back a failing newspaper.

ha ha. yes, good point. i just meant with the election coming up. however i'm so distrustful of the indo, that i wonder if they were just propping it up until then could pull the plug and take over the rest of it. will be interesting to see who buys it.

INM are screwed for cash. They're selling off things bit by bit. What amazes me is that they kept the Trib afloat for so long given that they were selling off other arms of the company.
Tragic for all involved. And a loss to the Irish media landscape. Another professional news outlet dies. How long until all we have are amateur blogs?

If they aren't paid to do it full-time, they're amateurs.
Personally, I'd rather pay money for professionally sourced news. But it seems increasingly I'm in the minority. Now, some online outlets fulfil this criterion (Huff Post, etc) but not many and not ANY in this country.
