What to do after I finish my degree?

I am currently in my final year of an honours degree in accountancy and trying to decide what I should do when I am finished. I have been looking at doing a masters. I dont want to do ACCA as I feel I would not be able for it, I also am not keen on actually becoming an accountant. However I do love the financial side of things. From looking at pac.ie the course which seems the most appealing to me is the Masters in Financial Economics in the University College Cork. I thoroughly enjoyed my financial management class and the topics we covered in it such as CAPM, derivatives, portfolio management etc. I was wondering if anyone had any advice or information on this course or other possible options which I could look into. I have talked to the tutor of my course but with him being ACCA he has nothing but praise for it and wants all students in the course to do ACCA. If I was to join an accountacy body I think it would most likely be chartered, but with him its just not an option. Its a shame really that I cant get much help out of him.

    Hi Skinandblister,

I did a Masters in Finance (UCD) a few years ago, because as in your case, these subjects (Fin mathematics/Econometrics/Stats/Fin economics) appealed to me the most....Do you have a particular area in finance you're interested in??(invest. management/banking/sales...). Ideally, you would be looking at sitting your CFA exams in this area (just as hard as accounatancy qualification if not harder). BTW, I am now studying for my ACA exams as I see an accountancy qualification having decided this was route for me...a lot of friends who graduated with me decided to go down the same route (and many of those who went on to the banks were let go).
