I'm soon to be purchasing the Classic Army AUG A1, the only problem is the mask. I wish to use the scope, so my question is what mask to use? :)
    Any help is much appreciated.

Masks are not helpful when wanting to use an AUG (or most rifles). I go with goggles/glasses. Not sure how the mesh lower face guard's work the AUG although others who use the gun more than I would be better able to answer that.

Yeah found that out the hard way :(
I wonder if any shops would let me try on the mask with the AUG.

just try the glasses i had one and they worked grand you can get a very good though pair for around 12 euro in homebase (cat)

note i have experiance with them and have got shot in them and not a scratch on them :)

I'm guessing you use no lower face mask?
Actually...has/does your CA Aug A1 ever had problems? Cause reading reviews and the likes it seems to have a few with its internals.

My AUG only ever had one problem; a fuse that blew but did it so subtly that the fuse would sometimes make a circuit connection and allow the gun to work, then stop again. Took a while to figure that out as the fuse actually looked intact (it had come away at one end, not broken in the middle). Easily fixed with a new fuse. I then decided to take it apart to do some gearbox internal upgrade work and as my first experiment in opening an AEG gearbox. After that it went pear-shaped until fixed by someone else.

Oh, and a friend of mine who was in the RDF went to disassemble my AUG and was a bit rough with the fore-grip and it split in two. Easily and reliably fixed with some binary liquid glue (none of that loc-tite crap which frankly isn't up to the job for fore-grips).

So I'm not sure what reviews you've been reading, but I've never had a "problem" with my CA AUG A1.

Thanks for the reassuring info :) I'm think I might definitely get it now :D
I'll keep the glue tip in mind although I don't intend to take it apart for no reason :)

If the glasses are not balistically rated, I would NEVER skirmish with them. one hit may be ok, its the one hit that ISNT that blinds you.

CA augs are great. Lovely guns, v3 box, nice and reliable. can have fps loss when the back pannel that holds the gb in comes loose (retighten the screws and its fine) good system. Lemming has 25rps out of his on an 8.4 battery with stock motor.

Best solution to gun and mask? Get a normal mask, and cut out a portion of the cheek you shoulder the weapon to... right or left depending. That way you get in to the sight grand, and it protects you mostly. Only solution if you insist on a mask.

Only trouble I ever had with mine was the odd BB would get into the inside of the gun and rattle about. The very few times I have skirmished its one of the more
comfortable guns to use but was paranoid about damaging the optics by getting hit with a stray BB so switched to the Civilian Model from JG with the rail :D
Rate of fire was lovely too (out of box without any modification)
Only thing I did not like was the big horrible fat obese two stage trigger!

There was an issue with the trigger area on some models where it could get stuck and fire on full auto and not stop!
it was an easy fix though, Think something just needed to be shoved or pushed into place on some guns.

At the time I bought my CA AUG-A1 it had got some award for being Airsoft Gun of the Year.
(At the time too CA were considered the expensive non-clone guns that were good! but nowadays I see more and more threads with people saying negative things about the brand)

I think CA are still good.... it seems only Ireland that really 'hates' them, and most of that 'oh ca arent good' comes from people saying what they heard, from someone that 'heard' it from someone else... as with most airsoft forums ><

CA's reputation was decimated in Ireland because of a couple of things:
    - Irish people by nature think that €200 on a gun is a rip off
    - As a result of the above, the main CA presence in Ireland = Sportsline
    - Sportsline quality is questionable at best

On top of that, if my friend's brother's dog-walker knows a guy who had a gun breakdown, by proxy so too have I :D

CA brand was getting bad-mouthed before the sportsline was introduced. The sportsline only made things worse.
(on the flip side before WE brand was getting bad mouthed by nearly everybody and now as come full circle with people saying very little negative things)

I guess the 300 Euros figure is the 50/50 price range about now. I know from buying myself everything starting out was 160-180 Euro price range for a bog standard AEG with only the Uber elite going over the 300 barrier.
Anything over was ("at the time") considered a good buy or lunatic collector,
anything below is clone land that needs upgrading.
And that was the way it was for a while.

Over the last few years prices have crept up though.
A CA gun for 300-350 is now not considered expensive
when the JG equivalent that was once 160 is now 270.

Now we as Irish Consumers that used to see prices like 160-170 see that as cheap with 220-270 as normal with
500 as a good gun. (700+ for fancy stuff)

Any mask with a low profile face shield is fine... absolutely no problems for me with one of these:

As for the quality of the CA AUG, there seem to have been good batches and bad batches - mine was from a good one (c.2007) and it's been a flawless runner despite having a serious amount of miles on the clock! The most common problem I've heard about them is burnt out trigger contacts (generally a problem with most AUGs if you run them on 9.6v+ batteries)...

Thanks for all the info :D much appreciated :D
Also another question....as you know I want the AUG..but so far no luck in finding a store which stocks the AEG....I'm not to fond of buying from other countries so how can I get one?

thats a problem with most aegs, when used often on semi auto, not exactly aug exlusive, but similar.

True, but AUGs seem to suffer more than most, maybe something to do with the different way the triggers are wired I dunno...

I've an AUG that's also circa 2007 and the contacts have the same issue. Well, when I say "issue" I mean as a term of reference rather than something that's causing my AEG not to work.
