I didn't want to post this in the Trainee Interviews section as that seems to be dealing with large firms current recruitment drive so apologies in advance if I should have...

I have an interview with a law firm next week and cannot find any information out about it. There is a one page website and while it outlines the practice areas it doesn't say who works there etc. Is there any where I can go to find out the names of the people there? (I know the name of one lady, but since her surname is not the same name as x & co. I presume there are more). I need to be prepared and would like to know at least a bit about them but I can't find anything.

If you check the Law Directory you will see the names of who is practising there. Small firm interviews tend to be informal and chatty so personality and rapport is often more important than demonstrating particular skill sets, an ability to show you can relate to people well is important.

Maybe email them and explain you are looking to learn about their backgound and would they kindly tell you info about their practice and people.

Also if its small firm in a community do digging work, put your detective hat on and talk to others that may have come into contact professionally with them. You can learn a lot that way.

Every solicitor gets a copy of the directory, if you have friends who have apprenticeships they may be able to help as there would be copies in their offices. If you can't track down a copy if you want to PM me the name of the firm I can look them up
