CS Gas Usage

Was just watching the documentary "Surviving the Cut" and it was the episode about Marine Corps Recon. On one phase, they have to carry 200lb dummies up hill for 2 miles, while CS gas canisters are let off around them, after 10 hours of night-time attacks with, you guessed it, more CS canisters being let off just upwind.

Got me thinking, do they use them in Afghanistan? I know it's not always practical, but just looking at the debilitating effects this "military grade" gas had on the Marines, I'm pretty sure it would be useful enough against the Taliban in A/stan. Obviously gas masks are a must and the conditions would not always be ideal, but I'm sure it would have its uses some times?

Just a question, I'm definitely open for correction on this.

    Pretty much no.

They're categorised as a chemical weapon, and their use in a war requires the authorisation of the President.

We can use them on our own guys in training as much as the budget allows, though.

Yep, I said earlier that people would complain about that...it's got to be at the bottom end of the scale though, right?
