Hi guys, just posting on behalf of a friend. Two girls travelling to London for a few nights in a week . Can anyone recommend accommodation central enough to the city that isn't too expensive? The primary concern is safety though!!

Maybe if someone lives/ is familiar with the city could be able to advise.

    Thanks.

    :)

london is huge, so is there something specific that they want to see/do?
or are you talking specifically about "the city of london"?

safety first seems a very strange mindset to visit a city on

what sort of budget do they have?

how are they getting there? plane? which airport? train? bus? driving?

its the same as most cities! stay outta dark alleys, keep a hold of your bag, dont leave stuff apart from a many tisssue in your pocket and the other usual common sense things. i cant advise on hotels cos i stay with family when im there... would advise they pick one within short walking distance f the tube cos the tube is so, so handy. and the short walk is best if youre carrying bags or a drunk mate (just kidding)

The last time I was there I stayed in the St Giles, its right beside a tube stop and at the top of Oxford street...literally 2 minutes walk from the shops...(its a womans paradise). There is a bar in the hotel that was good enough when we were there, you can walk to Covent garden in about 10 mins too....Its not very cheap but not expenisive either, esp when you consider its amazing location !!!! I highly recommend it..I booked it on a hotels.com type website but I think they have their own site too. Oh and I though the area was very safe....quite busy with people going about all the time.

    • Purely a touristy holiday, want to see all the usual attractions.
    • Safety is obviously important if it's just two girls travelling, somewhere central enough that's not in a dodgy area I guess.
    • Two students so budget is limited
    • Travelling to Gatwick and getting train to city

just a thought - if they got a hotel near a tube station they could fly to heathrow and get the tube from there. its in the lower levels. ive nooo idea what time the tube stops at but if safety is a big issue i doubt theyd be travelling at a time when the tube might be out of the question - its grand to get the tube during the day. i flew to heathrow once n got the tube to watford no problem (i was a 20 yr old girl at the time(
