None of the above?

It's been done before but with another election looming I thought it'd be interesting to do a quick poll on how many people would like a "None of the above" option on the ballot.

TBH, the candidates in my local constituency are a pretty poor bunch. There is one fella there that I'd vote for in a shot if he was independent, but he's a member of FG. I don't really want to support that shower, so I don't want any of my local candidates in government.

So vote "Yes" if you want a "None of the above" option on the ballot. That if this option got the majority, none of the candidates could take office.

Vote "No" if you think no matter how poor the candidates are, you pick one regardless.

Vote "Isn't my absence a hint?" if you think not showing up should be as good as a "None of the above". Surely if you can't be arsed going down the polling station, none of the candidates deserve to be in office.

Vote "NTW FTW!" if you think there should be a "Not that wanguy" on the ballot. An option to specifically exclude certain candidates, so for example, if more people voted NTW for Someguy, Someguy could not take office.

Disclaimer : I realise that there could be other reasons behind options 2 & 3 than what I've listed. I also realise that option 4 probably wouldn't work. Just trying a quick poll.

Would you favor a "None of the above" option? 29 votes

    Yes

    No

    Isn't my absence a hint?

    NTW FTW!

Will we keep a seat for none of the above in the national parliament?

    How about not voting

I'm guessing by this that you're in Dublin Central, or else the candidates are shíte like that everywhere.

Actually, my guy is the opposite. I would vote for the FG guy, but I'm not convinced the guy running in my area is any good.
Other than that it's 2 FFers, 2 left wing indos, SF (that MLMcD wan) and Labour

shower of cnuts if you ask me.

If there was a "None of the Above" option, i'd quickly change my name to "None of the Above"

There's no doubt i'd win the election!

There should be an option to register objection to all candidates put forward on the ballot. Spoiling your vote isn't really good enough as there could be any number of reasons for it.

Just draw that hilarious 'Forever Alone' or 'Grumpy Troll' or whatever on the ballot if you can't be arsed voting.

People can be arsed voting but sometimes more choice is needed. At most now you get two (if you're lucky from the three main parties) and one of the rest with a couple of independents. There should be a sort of list system tbh and parties need to put forward more candidates. Electoral reform ftw.
