    Hi,

I tried search for some similar threads but nothing quite matched my criteria.

I'm looking for a new tv but I'm lost as to what to get.

Here is what I am looking for:
    1) an LCD tv.
    2) Budget of 550 euro
    3) Size around 42''
    4) Brand LG/Samsung/Sony
    5) To be bought in a shop in or around Dublin.
    6) Maybe freeview and mpeg4 compatible.
    7) 100Hz

Any one have any suggestions or what to avoid?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'll be honest and say you wont get a 40" samsung or sony with 100Hz for 550€, you may get an LG however. Had a look on the normal sites, power city, argos and cant find anything though. You really are asking a lot within that budget though, if you were willing to put up with 50Hz, theres loads of choice around the 500€ mark but 100Hz is still a half premium feature

Cant find anything from richersounds either. Its not really a great time of the year to be buying a new tv really, manufacturers are just launching their new ranges and some 2010 models would be in short supply

Thanks very much for the advice.

Is it worth the extra money for 100Hz over 50Hz or is it even that important?

I would say you should go and look at the 50Hz and 100Hz sets and see what you think.

Many people turn off the 100Hz because it makes everything look like cheap video.

It also adds input lag if you are going to use the set for playing games.

Saying all that, if you are really into watching your sports on the telly then 100Hz does add something beneficial to that. So you could turn 100Hz off for everything else and turn it on for sports.

Ultimately you will have to go and see it for yourself.
