George "Dubya" Medals

    Here are two "Dubya" items - so called because both awards were created by executive orders signed by George W Bush.

    The first is the GWOT (Global War on Terrorism) medal created in 2003 and awarded to those that supported the war on terrorism from 2001 onwards.
    This version below is not the full size but a 'miniature' medal.

    Next is the Iraq Campaign medal created by executive order in 2004. It is retroactive to march 2003 when the initial invasion took place. Hard to believe it is so long ago already :eek:

    I remember very clearly the discussions on WMDs as pretext but also the underlying neocon strategy to create democratic nations across the Middle East. Ironically that seems to be what is happening these days in North Africa with a domino effect toward Yemen and Jordan, not to mention the recent protests in Iran last elections. Strange how things work out since these mass protest movements are mainly caused by economic inequality rather than a desire for democratic elections.
