Transferring audio cassettes to Cd

I've been asked to transfer a load of taoes to cd and I havent a clue where to start....
I assume I need to get the tape content onto my laptop then burn this content onto a CD. If this is the case though how do I get the tape info onto my PC ??
I read an older post re this but I was completely lost so laymans term pls thx!

Sure let us know how you get on. From the looks of it you just need the player\cable\software.

It's the getting it to work is the trick!

The only annoying bit is having to let the tape play the whole way through to get the full thing. Unless you wanted to split it by tracks. Audacity (mentioned in the guides) is handy for that.
